Olly Cross

Oliver learnt to ring at All Saints, Gosforth in July 1989, taught by Ron Warford, and joined the Society in March 1994. He has rung just over 750 peals, with 230 for the Society.

Oliver has attended Wednesday night practices since moving to London in 1996, to study at UCL, and joined the Sunday service band at St Martin-in-the-Fields where he was Tower Captain from 2001 to 2005. He has also been Master of the University of London ringing society, which he continues to actively support.

When not ringing Oliver works in consumer healthcare regulation for a pharmaceutical company and in his spare time is a keen cook.

What does the Senior Steward do?

The Senior Steward is involved in the ringing side of the Society, being a regular attender of London practices where they help ensure things run smoothly (not least by booking all the towers!) and deputise for the Master. The Senior steward undertakes ad-hoc organising of peals and gets involved with events like NTDD. Other ringing related tasks often fall to the Senior Steward, such as organising special practices and peals.
