George Unsworth

George (aka Rowena) was taught to ring by Bill Merritt in Ringmer East Sussex who taught her to value good striking and good friends but not necessarily in that order.

Armed with a moderately keen ear (she abandoned all eye-contact after 5 years at Kensington) she joined the Cumberlands in 1981 and became president of the St James's Guild in 1984. She has worked in the music business all her life (mostly running orchestras) and lives in Cambridge where she manages the University's concert hall. Likes: ringing spliced, Orlando Gibbons, blackberry & apple pie, gin. Dislikes: Grandsire.

What does the Honorary Secretary do?

The Secretary is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Society in conjunction with the Assistant Secretary. The Secretary works closely with the Master to keep an overview of all that is happening and takes an active role in ensuring all the Society's calendar events are well organised through liasing with local organisers. The Secretary also organises the Society Dinner. The Secretary is the major line of communication with the membership through the monthly updates and is the first point of contact for anyone wishing to contact the Society.
