SRCY Tour of Australia in 2011

The Senior Steward is looking to take a tour over to Australia in February/March 2011. The core part of the tour will be over two weeks taking in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney in that order, with an optional third week involving Melbourne, Brisbane and possibly Hobart.

The trip would leave London on Friday 18 February 2011, going straight to Perth. After about 4 days in Perth we'll fly to Adelaide for a long weekend (Thu - Sun). During this weekend the ASCY will be in Adelaide so we'll have a big dinner at the Adelaide Town Hall as part of the cross over. On Monday 28 February we'll fly to Sydney and spend the best part of a week there and in the surrounding area. There are plans to go to Goulburn and Canberra as well. The core trip will then fly back to London and arrive on Monday 6 March in the early hours. The extended trip will then fly to Melbourne (and Hobart, if there's enough interest) before flying up to Brisbane for a few more days before flying back to London, arriving on Sunday 13 March. A few people have already asked if New Zealand will be part of this tour. If there's enough interest then this can be arranged as well.

The cost of this trip is hard to pin down at the moment, as the exchange rate with Australia is not as favourable against the pound as it was 10 months ago, but we're looking in the region of £2000 - £2500, but there are ways to bring this down. We are now taking deposits for the tour. If you intend to come along then please make a cheque out to the SRCY for £250 and let the Senior Steward know. At the March Country Meeting in 2010 it was confirmed that this trip will be going ahead. A deadline to sign up was set that on the Sunday of the July Country Meeting in 2010.

If you have any further questions/would like more details about the trip then please contact the Senior Steward and he'll be happy to answer any questions you have. Plans have been continuing while the Senior Steward has been in Australia, and further announcements will be coming soon.
